The Legacy Music
Series pays homage to Garfield Park’s ethnic foundations, the
tapestry of Chicago’s rich musical history, and the diversity of
our featured artists. take a seat on the terrace while you enjoy the distinctive
artistry of the Legacy Music Series line-up. Pack a picnic, or purchase from our menu when you
arrive. Reservations are just $10 per performance. Or buy
the whole Series for $35. Reservations are available for purchase online (see below) and will also be available for purchase at the door. Performances take place rain or
shine. Horticultural Hall is the concert venue in inclement
weather. It’s an ideal opportunity to gather your friends,
bring a date, relax from your workday or give your significant
other an enjoyable night out.

Want a deeper connection with our featured performers? Explore
the artistic vision of our unique headliners at an exclusive
pre-performance reception. The Jensen Room will be the site of a
one-on-one experience with each group prior to their public
concert on the Bluestone Terrace. In a unique mini-presentation
format, you’ll gain insight into the cultural and emotional
foundations of their musical genre - plus learn about their
special connection to the natural world. It’s the perfect
prelude to an evening of musical delights. Admission is $50 and
tickets are limited. Your ticket entitles you to delicious
reception food and beverage, the artists’ presentation, one seat
in the VIP section at the public performance, a complimentary
Seedling membership ($25 value) and a special gift. If
purchasing multiple VIP Preview and Performance reservations,
please specify the names of your guests in the “Special Order
Instructions” box during checkout so that membership cards can
also be created for them.
Please print the confirmation email from your online reservation
purchase and bring it with you the night of the event. Visa,

He is the grandmaster of the multi-octave mbira, a sacred ceremonial instrument that he uses to express his cultural heritage. His Boterekwa Dance Troupe provides the exhilarating footwork. It such a feast of culture, music and dance, that we’re offering you the chance to see them twice.

The Alan Gresik Swing Shift Orchestra brings the jumping, swinging music of the 30s and 40s to roaring life with its impeccable 15-musician crew.
The orchestra delivers fox trots, tangos, waltzes, ballads, and, of course, swing with an authenticity and vibrancy that epitomizes the golden age of American dance music. Every Thursday night since 1998, crowds have packed the legendary Green Mill Jazz Club in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood to hear and dance to the Big Band and swing music of the Alan Gresik Swing Shift Orchestra.
