Hours: 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm

“Amidst Lush Plantlife” takes the orchestra out of the traditional concert hall and into one of the country's premier plant conservatories. John Luther Adams creates epic sonic landscapes with his masterpiece The Far Country of Sleep. British composer Gabriel Prokofiev, founder of NONCLASSICAL records (and yes, grandson of Sergei) gives us Spheres, a violin mini-concerto that will receive its American premiere. Chicago composer Kyong Mee Choi explores the intersection of performance, electronics, and public space in Open Arms. The program is rounded out with the music of Edward Smaldone and Chicago composer/performer, James Falzone.
